The weeks roll on and the fish continue to come to the bank.

My  motivation to be a frequent and regular poster has waned from previous seasons. I have no idea why. I can only hope the spark will reignite with in to recount  the exploits of Joe and friends.

When we have hit the runs with good timing our time has been a blast. As we all know the fish continue to move on their journey through the Zoar and beyond.

There have been a few slow days where the frustrations of the morning have been tempered by brilliant sunlight and cordial conversations with Bill and Frank which brings smiles to our faces.

Here in pictorial form are a few moments burnt in time that God has grace me with this season.

Good water, good fish and more importantly good friends.....

And so it begins once again......Fall 2014

And so it begins....The Fall 2015 steelhead season is upon us and we are filled with visions of acrobatic chrome laying our tired arms to waste.

Monday I met up with Bill and Frank for what I hope to be many, many ,many trips this fall.
We hit the stream early and hard with some success. It was a great day with nice green water.

There are mornings on the water when  the competitive spirit comes out and your not as relaxed due to stream traffic or other setbacks. This was not one of those days. The water was right, the company was right and there were a few fish that were eager to do business.

Strangely enough I even broke a smile  a few times and cracked a few jokes with these fine gentleman.

As always Bill and Frank put on a clinic.

I added a few to the numbers myself.

All in all a fine morning on the water with two of the best human beings I know.

I could not  have asked for a better day off from the office.

The Trek of Three Hills.....

Today Bill and Frank joined up with me in hopes of finding some green water after the 60 MPH gusts and high water that started the weekend. We started the day at 25 degrees Fahrenheit. The cold temps were the coldest of this early season that I recall. The fields were painted with thick frost as the sun poked its head over the horizon. The boys geared up and we played up the hill and down the hill all day.

The water wasn't where we had hoped it would be . It was still mucked up with a boat load of leafs  meandering through the current. Well we gave it our best which resulted in only a couple fish between the three of us. We had our excuses lined up for our poor showing that's for sure.

1. Muddy murky water

2. Ultra low temps gave the fish temporary lock jaw

3. Smoked sockeye jinx.....Well Frank brought me some smoked sockeye as a gift. As the saying goes never bring fish if you want to catch fish. I'm sure this is the reason for our piscatorial failure.

Frank says he is fine with Bill blaming him for any skunks, poor outings or any other unexpected negative events that may arise.

If the weather pattern holds true, rain will be on its way Wednesday or Thursday to crap up the next weekend. We shall see.... hope as always spring internal as the three of us were battered from our walk but unbroken.

Royal Canadian Float Recovery Team......

The RCFRT(Royal Canadian Float Recovery Team)  came down for the day. The two member squad
displayed Canadian ingenuity and creativity in their recover of a custom made float tied up in some submerged branches. It was quite a site and made my day.

The weekend started off  with murky conditions on the  bigs and mids and the rain overnight made them increase in murk and flow even more as the weekend progressed.

I found one of the smalls murky with a tinge of green on Sunday which brought some success.

On Monday the above mentioned RCFRT of Bill and Frank joined me for the first time this season.
I take great pleasure fishing with these two gentleman and enjoyed the days and banter not to mention the priceless picture that their antics produced.

More rain  and wind to come mid to end of the week. I hazard to think when we will ever get back on the big trib short term.

Until later.......

Steelhead Monday....Well maybe not.

Last Friday I was excited with the hope to get in in three solid days of fishing but the weather Gods had their own plans. Saturday stream quality was a mixed bag. Most water was brown and murky with a few having just cleared . The steelhead gods graced me with  a few fish in clear and murky water to my surprise. There is something to say about fresh October fish. Some of them have the ability to give you  a shot of adrenaline and leave your knees a little wobbly.

Sunday the very gods that giveth  took away and punished me with lake effect rain. The steady rain which was heavy at time brought chocolate milk to all the tribs both big and small.

Well I guess we have all been praying for a good shot of precipitation to distribute the fish through all the tributaries both high and low in the systems.

We asked for and now we got it.

Until next time.....
